Arapahoe Basin Ski Area The skiing at Arapahoe Basin is truly legendary. A traverse along the East Wall will nearly always result in finding new powder to ski. The famous West Wall with its cornice provides a spectacular vista while it challenges you to leap off its edge. But perhaps the most famous run in Colorado is Palavicinni. This run ranks as one of the steepest, longest, and most challenging in North America. It is in fact, not really a run, but a natural avalanche path that has formed over the years by the forces of nature. Today the Arapahoe Basin Ski Patrol controls the snow to render Palavicinni safe for skiing.
